Peace of mind is important when it comes to your vehicle.

This time of year, I like to take inventory and make sure that the things I hold most important are in order when the New Year arrives. Take my home for instance! I walk around looking for anything that may need to be repaired and/or replaced. Then go through my garage to see how I can remove some of the clutter that accumulated throughout the year. I also like to make sure that my documents are in order; insurance policies, securities etc. A big one for me is the Service Contract on my vehicle. With the cost of repairs these days, I want to make sure that I'm covered.  More importantly, it's peace of mind!

To make sure you don’t get caught with a costly repair in the New Year; contact Joseph in our Finance Department today. Who knows, he might even have a special to offer you!

The year is coming to a close soon and it's time to make sure that your warranties are in tact.

As you probably realize every day, driving conditions on the road are not ideal. There are potholes, garbage and tons of debris on the roads that we drive. Added to that junk out there on the road, there are all the poorly maintained highways and side streets. Tires can withstand wear and tear but especially bad road or conditions can leave your tires in need of repairs or even replacement. Your tire manufacturer’s warranty only covers problems that are caused by what they determine to be defects.
A defect is defined as an imperfection that causes inadequacy or failure. Companies will usually only fix a defect if they find it is caused by a material or quality problem caused by the manufacturer. Therefore, when you cut your tire down on a nail from that construction zone you travel through each day the manufacturer’s warranty is not going to cover that. The road hazard warranty would cover that.
The road hazard warranty covers your tires when these unexpected events occur. Running over debris and through potholes is an every day occurrence it seems. Add to that the construction zones that are always popping up all over town and trash that ends up in the road after storms. There are many sharp objects that our tires can run over and most of us are fortunate to not have anything happen to our tires.
If something does happen to your tire, like a cut or a piercing would not it feel nice to know that it is covered? Your road hazard warranty should pay for your cut or piercing to be fixed. Depending on the warranty you purchase you can even be covered if the whole tire is destroyed. You will have to pay a pro-rated amount for the new tire but this is much less than full price. Pro-rated has you pay for only the tread of tire that has been worn off. You pay for what you have used, which is fair.
If you travel cross county you will probably be interested in a road hazard warranty that would allow you to get your tire fixed under the warranty out of your local area. This will allow you to travel without worries regarding your tires. Then if your tire falters in an unfamiliar location, you can feel safe knowing you will be able to get your tire(s) repaired or replaced without spending several hundred dollars again.
Some road hazard warranties will include extras such as free rotations or balancing if this is not already part of your tire purchase price. To keep the manufacturer’s warranty intact you will need to rotate and balance your tires on a regular basis. A road hazard warranty will not affect your car insurance. No car insurance company gives a discount for tires or tire hazard warranties.
So is a road hazard warranty worth the extra money? I definitely think it is. After a driving through construction areas every day for work, I have used my warranty on more than one occasion. This is unfortunate for me that I had tire issues but when it happened, at least I knew I would be covered and not out extra money. A road hazard warranty will let you have peace of mind when you drive through that next nail- filled pothole. So ask about it when you purchase your next vehicle or new set of tires. Better yet, see if you can get it included in the price of the tires. And if your tires are in good condition contact Joseph in the finance department today and make sure that your vehicle is protected overall!

TAMPA, FL -- The beginning of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season is still a week away. But Mother Nature is getting things moving a little early.

US Fidelis Files for Bankruptcy!

The company that once sponsored the Rusty Wallace NASCAR team, US Fidelis has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, this transaction took place on March 1, 2010. According to the court records, the company has accumulated $25.8 million in debt, has 474.4 million in accets, $65 million of which the is owed to the company from its two owners.

The company reported that they generated $246.5 million dollards in revenue for the sale of service-contracts. And now, there is no one available if you need to access the benefits of your service-contract. In fact the companies troubles began to mount last April when complaints started streaming into the office of the Beter Business Bureau and the Attorneys General over the company's deceptive business practices.

In 36 months, the BBB received 1,100 complaints and over 33,000 inquiries, which lead to the filing of a law suit against the company by Missouri Department of Insurance. BMW North American jumped in and filed a suit against the company for illegally using it's trademark name without proper affiliation. It looks like the company will receive a number of class-action lawsuits as well.

Hopefully, none of our readers need be to concerned of their coverage but, if you discover that your service-contract is one owned my US Fidelis, please contact our Finance Director @ 727-344-3344 to get proper protection for your vehicle.

Salons are donating clippings to stuff into oil-absorbing booms.

Shear Art Salon & Spa hair stylist Jennifer Wiggins of Temple Terrace cuts Carrollwood resident Myloan Huynh’s hair. The salon is donating clippings.
By Drew Harwell

As anyone who has gone days without shampooing knows, nothing grabs onto oil quite like hair.

That might explain why there are boxes of strangers’ hair clippings in Princess Obriot’s garage in Holiday.

A s president of the environmental group Make Mine Bluegreen, she’s leading a call for donations of hair, fur and wool, key components in the cleanup of the Gulf of Me xico oil slick headed for Florida’s shores.

Hair is the perfect oil-fighter: It’s light, spongy, flexible and free, Obriot said. A clump of it can sop up oil, be wrung clean and immediately reused. The best part? It’s pretty easy to find.

“Hair by itself, by nature, is the best,” Obriot said.

More than 40 salons in Pasco and Hernando counties, she said, have committed to donating sheared hair.

Volunteers will stuff clippings into pantyhose to make booms, or press long strands into mats. T he group will join a response team, taking donations including Da wn dish soap, cat litter pans and soft-bristle brushes.

Technically, hair doesn’t “absorb” oil, it “adsorbs” it. Oil clings to the hair’s surface rather than soaking into the strand. The results are the same. A pound of hair can soak up a quart of oil, Obriot said, and a mat of hair can be wrung out and reused many times.

It was an Alabama hairdresser who suggested the idea after the Exxon Valdezran aground in 1989. In 1998, NASA researchers tested a hair-nylon filter in drums of oiled water. In 2006, guards in the Philippines shaved prisoners’ heads to help soak up a spill. A year later, a group called Matter of Trust compressed hair mats for use on oil-slicked rocks after a spill near the San Francisco Bay Bridge.

In Gulfport, groomers at Joy’s Doggery have filled three old shampoo boxes with a mix of Yorkie, poodle and puli fur that looks, co-owner Melanie Huling said, a bit like a calico.

Stylists at the Michael Angelo Hair Studio in Tampa are collecting about a pound of hair a day, said business manager Anthony Bellapigna. Collecting stockings and mesh to create the booms can be harder, he said.

“People ask me, what can I do to help,’” Bellapigna said. “I tell them ‘Go get a haircut.’” Obriot’s supporters, like Girl Scout Troop 10075, span as far as South Florida. Four Scouts circled the cafeteria table of Flamingo Elementar y Schoolin Davie. Western High School senior Layla Souchet, 17, had told them that they would be helping clean up the massive gulf oil slick.

At first, “they were like, ‘Oh, that’s really cool. What can we do?’” Souchet said. That was before she walked in with bags of clippings from a nearby Hair Cuttery. “Then they were like, ‘Why do you have this big bag of hair?’” The girls reluctantly grabbed handfuls of hair to tr y and weave a makeshift mop head, but the strands were too short. What did work, they found, was stuffing the clumped hair into their mothers’ old, holey leggings. After about 10 minutes, the girls had five sets of floating booms.

With a Scouts trip to Sanibel Island planned for this summer and the oil still spreading through the water, the girls figured they’d better pitch in.

“It’s a great way to help, and I get the satisfaction of knowing I just saved a little otter, or something,” Souchet said.

Volunteers stuffed human and dog hair into pantyhose at Princess Obriot’s house Wednesday.

Booms will soak up oil in spill areas. To donate or schedule a pickup, call Obriot at (727) 967-4754 or visit www.

Coming this summer.....

Until now, the entry-level Mazda model was the Wicked-Fun, Wallet-Smart Mazda3. This summer, Mazda will launch the sale of the Mazda2 hatchback in the US marketplace.

The sporty and versatile 2011 Mazda2 will be available in two trim levels Sport and Touring. Although each model will receive very identifiable interior and exterior designs, they both will come standard with a 100-hoursepower, 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4 cylinder with variable valve timing.
With the standard four-wheel drive manual shift transmission it also offers a four-speed automatic as an optional choice.

The expected fuel economy is 28 miles per gallon in the city, with 35 miles per gallon on the highway for the manual model and 28 miles per gallon in the city, with 34 miles per gallon on the highway for the automatic. Like all of its latest models the Mazda2 will embody the smiley front grille and bulging front finder arch with a family resemblance to the Mazda3 5-door. The 2’s wedge-shape styling is intensified by the upswept side body crease and the rising beltline. All of these aspects add up to a design that mimics Mazda’s “Zoom-Zoom” spirit, which gives the all-new Mazda2 a surprisingly aggressive look and stance.

Like the bigger MAZDA3, Mazda’s newest hatchback features a familiar interior that combines versatility and sportiness. As is the case with the exterior’s angular lines of its sister car with a rounder theme to match current Mazda interiors. This is especially true on the instrument panel with the large round gauges, the circular HAVC vents and controls and Mazda-signature stereo system head unit.

The main differences between the base Sport and the Touring trim levels are the steering wheel and the seat coverings with the up level Mazda2 Touring featuring a leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats with stylish contrasting red piping used on the seat bottoms and seat backs. The Touring trim level also adds a six-speaker audio system with steering wheel controls, cruise control and a trip computer.

The Mazda2 also accommodates plenty of cargo space holding up to 12.3 cubic feet with the rear seat in place and 27.8 cubic feet with the seat back folded down. Starting at $13980 the Mazda2 will be all the rage this summer. Make sure you're on the waiting list to test drive the newest member of our family! Getting excited yet? Well so are we...

Achoo...

Spring is here and it appears that it is raining Pollen these days. If you start you morning off sneezing repeatedly, having itchy & watering eyes or sinus congestion then you might be allergic to pollen.

Allergen avoidance is the best method of preventing allergic symptoms, but it can be hard to avoid pollen during the spring because it's everywhere—both indoors and out. However, you can reduce your exposure to pollen by following a few simple tips: Limit outdoor activity when the pollen count is high; this will decrease the amount of pollen you inhale. Pollen counts tend to be highest in the morning and lowest after rainfall. Beware of hot, dry, windy days and welcome rainy days that wash the pollen to the ground.

When you have to go outdoors, shower and change your clothes immediately afterwards because pollen sticks to clothing, skin, and hair. (If you have a pet, it can also unknowingly carry pollen into the house.) If you have to work in the yard, wear an allergy relief mask to block pollen and other allergens.

Weekly New Car Special - 2010 Mazda6 $16499

This week our special is a New 2010 Mazda6 i Sport priced to move at $16499. The midsize sedan market is crowded with competition, and until a major redesign last year, the Mazda 6 seemed to flounder at the back of the pack. As Japan's self-proclaimed performance brand, Mazda focused more on exciting driving dynamics than what American family sedan buyers were really looking for -- comfort, reliability, safety and affordability.

The re-imagined Mazda6 that debuted last year was bigger in nearly every dimension than the previous generation. This provided occupants with one of the roomiest cabins in the midsize sedan class. When vehicles make substantial gains in size, we usually expect a corresponding drop in handling ability, acceleration and overall excitement. But that's not the case with the newest Mazda 6, as we've been pleasantly surprised to find that much of the previous athleticism is still intact.

This 2010 Mazda6 i is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 21 mpg city/30 highway.

Please call Debbie @ 727-344-3344 for more details or mention the 'Blog Special' to your sales person.

Big companies with impressive job growth!

Salesforce.com, which makes software to help companies manage customer relations, has thrived thanks to two hot sellers: Sales Cloud and Service Cloud. The latter, geared for call centers, is the company's core product and its fastest growing. A key selling point is that Salesforce's software integrates with Twitter and other social media channels, "taking the old service model and bringing it into the 21st century," said a company spokesman.

CEO Marc Benioff says the company is hiring more sales people worldwide to meet increased demand and is expecting growth to continue in the year ahead because of overall improvement in the information technology environment.

Prepare to spring forward into Daylight Saving Time this weekend

We're all about to lose an hour of sleep and gain an hour of evening daylight.
Yes, Daylight Saving Time has arrived.
Let’s all, synchronize your watches. We'll be springing those clocks forward an hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 14.
This little slight of the clock hands make it seems like the sun is appearing an hour later in the morning when most people are asleep anyway and stretches daylight later into the evening.
The idea is to save energy, burning up fewer light bulb hours.
It’s also a good time to check and change the batteries of your smoke detectors and alarms!

One of 10 cars to look forward to in 2010

Mazda2

Mazda's subcompact Mazda2 model carries the company's "zoom-zoom" attributes of nimbleness and sleek styling-well, sleek for a box - so consumers have clamored for the company to bring this model to the US.

Skeptics will point out that this model has been available in other markets for two years. The same was ture of the Honds Fit when that company decided to bring it to the U.S., and the Fit has met with solid success, especially when gas prices were higher.

The Mazda2 will be powered be a 1.5 liter engine when it arrives in dealerships in the late summer. By Dan Carney, contributor msnbc.com
